Preventing Cancer Risk

The plant-based nutritional expert is well-known for completing one of the most comprehensive studies on human nutrition. Dr. Campbell and his son, Thomas M. Campbell, found dietary links between the consumption of animal-based foods like meat, dairy, and eggs and certain diseases, such as cancer and heart disease.

A powerful way to reduce cancer risk and improve survival for those who've been diagnosed is by enjoying a plant-based diet.

Basing our diets around plant foods (like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and beans), which contain fiber and other nutrients, can reduce our risk of cancer. ”World Cancer Research Fund and the American Institute for Cancer Research, Cancer Prevention Recommendations

Diet

More colorful the diet, indicate compounds that fight cancer...

Pigments produce bright colors in fruits and vegetables —like the orange color in sweet potatoes is beta-carotene or and the red color is lycopene in tomatoes—the pigments fight cancer.

Fiber containing plant foods, help remove components that could lead to prostate or breast cancer. Fiber benefits the digestive tract as well, removing waste quickly to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer.

Animal products such as meat and dairy pose a potential risk. Processed and red meat, like hot dogs or bacon contain substances that are harmful which lead to colorectal cancer. Grilling chicken or fish produce cancer elements such as carcinogens. Dairy products, cheese and butter, are linked to breast, ovarian and prostate cancer.
